First: We have David Archuleta on the cover of this issue -- Utah’s own, teen heartthrob, American Idol, pop recording artist, David Archuleta. I’m not going to deny that we, at Square HQ, didn’t freak out when we got word that this was going to happen. Not that our office is filled with 13 year old girls or that we voted for him like crazy (which we did), but for us, this was huge. And David couldn’t have been a nicer guy to meet with. We wish him only the best.
Second: I know that we already have a write-up on Provo’s Downtown Gallery Stroll (see pg 17), but I’ve got to put in my two cents. It’s a lot of fun. Even if art isn’t your thing, Downtown Provo comes alive on the first Friday of every month and there’s an energy there that everyone should come and enjoy.
Third: Our friends at The Sego Arts Foundation have been great supporters of ours since Square’s humble beginnings. I can remember being surprised, but excited, when I heard that Square was becoming a favorite among the local Indie music and art scene. So, to have The Sego Arts Foundation guest edit this issue is the least we could do to thank them for the support that they have shown us over the past four years. We hope that this issue gives them the exposure they need to help improve and strengthen our community through art, music and film.
Chief has been with Square since the beginning. He likes baseball caps, dogs, ties and Jennifer Garner.
Thanks for the great issue!
