Rocky Davies - The Illustrator

What do Pandora’s Lunchbox, Billy the Squid, and a robotic zoo custodian named Garbot have in common? Give up? They’re all creations from the mind of Rocky Davies, a professional artist from Atlanta, GA.

Before earning his BFA in Illustration at BYU, Rocky made fantastic creations as a child. Rocky recalls, “[My dad and I] would just sit down and draw together.” His favorite thing to draw now? “Same stuff I drew when I was ten years old- monsters, aliens and robots.”

Rocky has made a living with his talent. He created the characters for the recently released Juniors Giants, an animated series about a boy named Junior who learns spiritual lessons from struggles personified by giants. Rocky is single-handedly responsible for creating “every single thing that you see on screen” (juniorsgiants.com).

Future Island Blue is Rocky’s new project. It’s a cartoon chock full of, you guessed it - monsters, aliens and robots. He will soon pitch his idea to Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network. Rocky hopes to branch out by making full-length cartoons and eventually directing bizarre independent films.

We should all adopt a philosophy which Rocky so eloquently illustrates,“Everything is better with a monkey or two…three is pushing it.” Too true Rocky, too true. Visit Rocky’s mind on the web at: rockydavies.com.
