The Square Life

“I just write what’s on my mind.” Joshua James says of his entries on his blog (buffalojames.blogspot.com). It’s hard to believe there are no preconceived thoughts that go into what the singer/songwriter writes on his blog, with their poetic rhythm and dark undertones, but if you know his music at all, you would only expect it. Honest words without an inkling of overthinking.

Mr. James’ new album, Build Me This, is a welcome addition to our playlist, lyriced with as much honesty as his last (we’ve got Coal War on repeat). “It’s pretty different.” Joshua says about the album, but notes that the subject matter from his last and current album might be the only common thread between the two. “It has more electric guitars. Not as soft spoken…more aggressive.”
Whatever may be different or not, Joshua James is writing what’s on his mind and we’re loving what we’re hearing.
