Let’s be honest, this is a selfish time in our lives. We enjoy that there is nobody telling us to do those dishes or clean up that mess. However, there can be limits to such self indulgence. So if your near the edge, and your apartment is seeming less than desirable to have guests over, or if your monthly cleaning check is coming up quick, here are some helpful cleaning tips to make your diggs shine. To get rid of the gunk inside your microwave heat a few cups of water inside for 5 minutes- the steam will soften any splatters inside, making them easy to wipe off.
To stay more organized keep all your cleaning supplies together in a bucket so you don’t have to spend time wandering around looking for the right item.
For some extra freshness in the kitchen sink put lemon and ice cubes down your garbage disposal- the ice cleans out the blades, and the lemon freshens the drain.
If you can’t get out the smell of last nights dinner, spray some of your favorite perfume or cologne on the light bulbs in the offending room- it works as a freshener, filling the room with the scent when you turn the lights on.
To be more efficient when cleaning a room, go around it from left to right, top to bottom, with your bucket of supplies. Give yourself a set amount of time to take on each section, keeping it organized and quick.
Don’t just drink Tang - use it in your dishwasher where the detergent usually goes to clean out the stains inside.
To get all the crumbs up keep an extension cord on your vacuum- that way you don’t have to plug and unplug to vacuum the whole apartment- just keep rolling.
If you have roommates, work as a team- everyone can pick a section of the house, and it will get done faster and more efficiently.
